NEXT is set to roll out its innovative energy-producing panels in commercial windows after securing $13.4 million in Series C funding.
It marks an exciting milestone for a company which "spun right out of the lab" 10 years ago at the University of California Santa Barbara. NEXT applies a transparent ink coating, which dries and forms the organic semi-conductor PV, which is then encapsulated between two panes of glass, and hermetically sealed. Windows can save anywhere between 20-40 percent of the building's energy load.
"We've done three rounds of funding and during that time have improved the efficacy and performance, and reduced the technical risk, and are now ready for commercial scale up. We're definitely looking to roll out globally." - Daniel Emmett, CEO
